This design features the Martini Racing Porsche 917LH. The 917 is one of the most dominant race cars of all time. The 917 won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1970 and 1971 and it so dominated the Can-Am sports car series that it was banned to give other teams a chance. The 917 set the Le Mans distance record in 1971, a record which stood until 2010. Immortalized by its power, speed, and success (with a little help from Steve McQueen's film "Le Mans") the 917 took Porsche from underdog racer to dominate force a character that is in every Porsche racer since.
